Resorts by Thai Architects, first published in 2009, comprised of eight projects by eight architects. All of the works demonstrated unique site specific design solutions that blended the resorts with the existing surroundings and local architecture. Each architect succeeded in finding the right answer for each project, both physically and economically. As a result, they gained a good reputation and many visitors to their projects. The first series of Resorts by Thai Architects received an overwhelming response which has allowed the publisher to release a second book in the series, with a third book coming soon. There was a large amount of feedback from our readers including suggestions to publish more resorts designed by Thai Architects located both in Thailand and overseas. We began work on Resorts by Thai Architects: Serene modernity at the beginning of 2010. Since then we have contacted many architects specializing in this type of architecture and visited a number of resorts. Many architects expressed interest in having their work featured in this book and it has been difficult selecting the most suitable projects. This has led us to publish two more ‘Resorts by Thai Architects’ books to accommodate all the beautiful works we have seen, many of which were designed by younger architects. Both the quality and beauty of the resorts in this volume are of the same high standard as the first book. It includes projects in a variety of locations from mountains to forests and beaches. The resorts range in size from a large resort with more than 100 units to a small sized resort with only 10-20 rooms. The design of each resort is unique, representing the ambition and dedication of each architect to create a memorable piece of architecture. I believe all of these architects have created their works with love, belief and great passion for architecture.
